Over the last few months, I’ve seen a lot more self-love, acceptance, and gratitude posts popping up in my social feeds…and I love it!
I love seeing both men and women sharing their stories and how they’ve come to finally love themselves and what they see when they look in the mirror.
We are our own worst critics and I, too, am guilty of looking in the mirror and criticizing every flaw from the way my legs look to how frumpy my hair is that day. But, I’ve been working to stop this negative behavior. We are all different and that’s what makes us all beautiful; I don’t spend time with people based on how they look, but because of WHO they are.
So even on the days that the lighting isn’t just right or my hair is flat and my skin looks tired, I remind myself to look past the mirror and really see who I am…someone who volunteers; who works hard to lift others up; is dedicated to work, family, and friends; wants to make a difference in the lives of others; and is constantly working to be the best version of myself.
No matter where you’re at in your journey, recognize how far you’ve come, look ahead to where you’re going, appreciate the moment you’re in right now, and most of all, stop criticizing yourself––love yourself and be proud of the person you are.
